About Us:
About Us
Located in the Appalachian Mountains outside of Sunbury, Pennsylvania, we are fortunate to see red-orange sunsets over beautiful rolling hills, wildlife, the foliage in the fall, the fresh spring air and white Christmas's. Living and working here, we have learned to have an appreciation for natural beauty. This inspires our creative senses and enables us to create a unique site that embodies both beauty and order.
What is "Tylivia?"
Tylivia is derived from two names; Tyler and Olivia. They are the two most beautiful people in our lives. Their laugh, smile, hearts and energy give us a reason to smile and be proud each and every day.
About the Owners:
Tylivia Web Design is owned and operated by Harry and Heather Kerstetter. Heather takes care of all of the accounting and day to day operations, usability testing and artistic/corrective criticism.
Harry is the primary web designer and developer. Harry got his start in computers in 1982 on the Apple II during second grade...the days when there was only one or two computers in the entire school! With the advent of the TRS-80 16K color computer by Radio Shack, this gave the family an affordable way to get a computer. The unfortunate thing about these computers were that instead of buying a cartridge for it to do anything, you had to program it for it to do anything. Because of this, Harry developed a mastery level in the B.A.S.I.C. programming language. As the years went by, he found himself learning other programming languages such as MS-DOS, Cobol, Lotus, dBase, etc..
Then in 1993, just as the internet was starting up on a commercial level, he took a keen interest in learning the language of the web, HTML. During these days, all we really saw were web pages formatted for text and links...no graphics or dynamically driven stores, message boards, Flash animation, etc... In 1996, Harry started his first "commercial" website for a band he was involved with. He had so much fun with it, that he began making sites for other local bands for a $100 fee!
So in 2000, Harry started-up his first "official" freelance business doing business as Polaris Web Design. His first paying customer was a local ADT Security Systems and Cell phone dealer and the rest was history.
Since then, he has developed mastery skills in HTML, CSS, javascript and PHP. He also uses and implements the latest and current technologies available including: Macromedia/Adobe Dreamweaver and Fireworks CS, Adobe Photoshop, PHP Designer 2005, SWiSH Max, and Flash Professional.
His current value added interest is mastering WML and other wireless design and apps!
